Welcome to Sutton Village Church

First of all, thank you for taking time to look at our site.

We are an evangelical fellowship based on Herbert Street, Sutton, St Helens, WA9 3LE (see map below).

Our services are lively and family friendly. They are held in a modern, well furnished space filled with natural light. We are assisted in our services by a Worship team, providing a mixture of Hymns, Songs and Choruses old and new. There is also a Prayer team on hand should you require it. A Crèche is also available during the service. To finish things off, you are welcome to stay behind for refreshments after the service.

In addition to our regular Sunday Services (which start at 11am), we have a wide variety of activities taking place throughout the week. Why not look at our What's on page to see if there is anything that appeals to you. We have a comprehensive and vibrant youth ministry and also many events for the young at heart.

So, please take a look around!

Our Mission Statement

A Brief History

Sutton Village Church was first established in 1884 at 107 Herbert Street, Sutton (land now occupied by part of the current car park). Work commenced on the current building in 1891. The Building was extended in 1910, and the 2 storey extension housing the Kitchen and Sunday School rooms added in 1962. Finally, the Car Park was added in 1980.

Can you tell which bits which? There are many little clues around the building that indicate past changes. Why not have a look at our photo gallery to see how the church has been modernised over the years.

In the last 120 Years, the Church has seen a great many characters, and is fondly regarded in the Community in which it is situated.

Sutton Village Church Today

We are rapidly coming to a close in the latest chapter of the chapel's history.

Over the past eight years, we have seen a extensive programme of refurbishment in the Building. This was partially driven by the amount of maintenance needed to the very fabric of such an old building. Some of the most extensive works have been in the main meeting area, where the wooden floor was removed and replaced by a solid one. This has provided us with a versatile and airy space, with an abundance of natural light in which to hold meetings. Modern, comfortable furniture also contributes to your visit. Elsewhere in the building, the kitchen and Foyer area have been modernised extensively.

Facilities for the disabled have been improved also, including ground-level access, disabled facilities and a modern loop induction system to assist the hard of hearing. Crèche facilities are available during all Services,

A range of modern AV equipment is available - including CD and Tape equipment. Visitors are invited to use this - however, please contact us in advance to discuss your requirements. This will enable us ensure that your visit runs smoothly.

We have a wide and varied programme of meetings and events for all-ages during the week - see our diary page for more details.
