On Saturday 29th of June, Sutton Village Church held a Summer Fete. This was instead of our annual walking day which sadly we had to cancel for logistical reasons. We were determined to make this an event open to the whole community with something for all ages!
The afternoon began with a short but very lively service inside the church where many of the children who attend ‘Friday club’ performed some of their worship songs with dance actions. The children brought along family and friends, some of whom hadn’t been to our church before. We finished the service with a prayer and as we left to move outside, everybody agreed that the children were amazing!
We were blessed with a beautiful day so were able to set everything up in the car park. Greenalls brass band played while we served hot and cold drinks and cakes to all our visitors. We had some craft activities, a hot dog stand, a tuck shop and stalls with games for all ages! Face painting proved to be very popular as did ‘hook a duck’!
There were plenty of chairs out for those who wanted to sit and have a chat with family, friends and neighbours. The happy faces on the children and the sound of the brass band playing ensured that everybody had a wonderful afternoon! Our aim was to show God’s love by making sure everyone felt welcome and looked after!
