During our evening service on June 30, we looked at the story of Balak and Balaam and the talking donkey from Numbers 22. It’s a story from the Bible which takes place as God is leading his chosen people out of the Wilderness to the Promised Land.

In summary we considered a few thoughts which you can reflect on in your own time:
1. How many times in your life has God maybe put the block on something, yet still your human nature gives you the desire to want to push on? How did this make you feel?
2. Who’s the talking Donkey in your life? Who do you listen to? Thank God for that person – they may have already saved you from a lot of strife! We have so many people in our lives to whom we can say, “because of you… I did this / I didn’t do that / I went there / I didn’t go there”
3. Do you always do good things with God in your heart? If you’re doing good things without God in your heart – great – but it’s so much better to know God intimately.

Balaam’s story is told in Numbers 22:1-24:25. He is also mentioned in Numbers 31:7, 8, 16;
Deuteronomy 23:4, 5; Joshua 24:9, 10; Nehemiah 13:2; Micah 6:5; 2 Peter 2:15, 16; Jude 11; Revelation 2:14.
Here are a couple of videos to watch, with some other commentary on this passage from the Bible.
