Aswell as our weekly services, there are several other services that are held at Sutton Village Church throughout the year.

Communion
We take communion once a month at SVC, as part of our regular Sunday morning service. It is a monthly reminder to those who follow Christ, of his sacrifice on the cross as we take Bread & Wine (well, juice!) in his memory and to celebrate what He means in our life. Think of it as being like a Saints’ fan buying a new club shirt at the start of every season to show how much they love the club – except we ‘buy a new shirt‘ every month!

Baptisms
At SVC, we carry out believer’s baptisms when a church member has decided to make a life-long commitment to serving God. As part of the service, the person being baptised is submerged in our baptism pool to signify a cleansing of their sins and a fresh start in life, with God at the helm.

Child Dedications / Blessings
Our belief at SVC is that every child must be given their own opportunity to commit their life to Christ at a time when they are old enough to fully understand what that means. As a consequence, we don’t ‘Christen’ or ‘Baptize’ children. Instead we offer two types of service for children:
1) A Dedication Service – for children of parents who regularly attend church, we hold a short service (Sunday’s only) where we dedicate the child to God. At the service, the family and our church family make a commitment to help the parent’s raise that child in an environment where they will grow to learn more about God.
2) A Blessing Service – for children of parents who don’t regularly attend church, we hold a short service (Sunday’s only) where we ask God to look after the child and their family. During the service, the family are asked make a commitment to help the parent’s raise that child in a loving, caring environment.
Of course, the door is always open for the family and the child to become regular attendees at church and to find out more about what God has in store for them!

Weddings
Our church building is permitted to carry out Wedding services. We can arrange for someone to lead the service, for music to be played and, if necessary for a pianist to be available to play any hymns.
People wanting to marry in our church don’t have to be members of the church, but we will want to know why they wish to marry in church. A church marriage is a solemn Christian ceremony, with prayers and Bible readings reflecting Christian understandings of what marriage is about. Therefore, we will look for a genuine desire on the part of a couple to take their marriage seriously along the lines set out in the service. Discussing what this means in practice will be part of the marriage preparation.
If you’re interested in getting married at SVC, email us (svillagechurch@gmail.com) and we will be in touch to explain the process and associated fees.

Funerals
Our church building is permitted to host funeral services for anyone in our local community. We can arrange for someone to lead the service, for music to be played and, if necessary for a pianist to be available to play any hymns. Just ask your Funeral Director to email us (svillagechurch@gmail.com) and we will sort out the details.
Please note, we don’t have burial or cremation facilities.
