Thirst (Break My Heart)

In February 2024 we continued our focus on prayer. Specifically how and why we should pray for God to Break Our Hearts. Our starting point for the session was this message from Life Church.

The main reading for this session came from Jeremiah.

“My grief is beyond healing; my heart is broken. Listen to the weeping of my people; it can be heard all across the land. “Has the Lord abandoned Jerusalem?” the people ask. “Is her King no longer there?” “Oh, why have they provoked my anger with their carved idols and their worthless foreign gods?” says the Lord. “The harvest is finished, and the summer is gone,” the people cry, “yet we are not saved!” I hurt with the hurt of my people. I mourn and am overcome with grief.“

Jeremiah 8:18-21 NLT

After watching the message, our discussion centred around three main questions:

  • What are some of the insignificant things that annoy you the most?
  • What breaks your heart on behalf of the heart of God?
  • What are you going to do about what breaks your heart?
